Austria 10 – 5 Germany – Women’s naked match

In Vienna, on the 15th June Austrian and German women got together to play a topless football match ahead of the clash between the two countries at Euro 2008 yesterday.

The six-a-side teams had their national colours painted on them with body paint and wore nothing but thongs during the match.

The Austrians won 10-5, after organising the match, played on a Danube river island, through a chat room website.

29-year-old bank employee Doris Fastenmeir said:

“I hope our men will take heart from that tomorrow. We played pretty hard, we even had some injuries, like I for example broke my toe nail”

Pity the Austrians didn’t take heart from it. They lost 1-0 to a Ballack free-kick, that sent them out of the tournament and Germany through.

It was a friendly occasion, and the two teams went on to a beach club afterwards for drinks.

A funny quote from German keeper Jana Bach:

“I was supposed to hold the balls but I really have no idea how to do that,”

A bit like Lehmann then!
