Good article, some strong points made. I think it is an interesting point where he said he measures his success by the number of trophies. That is not something that you hear often. I mean everyone wants to win and all, but there is a lot more to it than just trophies.

I strongly believe we (Arsenal) have made steady progress this season. The only real concern is the loss of three key players due to injury. Cesc, Theo and RVP are going to be sorely missed.

Thanks for commenting. I’ve corrected it – they won the title in the 04/05 season, though not 03/04. So their drought was 99-05.

Nice article, one quibble, Barça won La Liga title in 2004 and 2005, so their drought wasn’t as long as you stated in the article.

The team can always get better, though the current side is very good. It is more dealing with injuries, and developing confidence and the ability to win consistently within a group that is important. Currently both are problems.

Not sure what Arsenal should do about Van Persie. One of the best in the world with his left foot, but so often injured.

In terms of title winning – you’re right, something needs to happen this season, or it may be too long for this side. Plus key players may become unsettled.
