It seems Fabianski will get his chance in the next few games, with Lehmann almost definetly leaving this summer.
There’s a report here that Flamini will stay, but until we hear anything official it can’t be a done deal.
There is also some debate over the captaincy see here. Wenger:
“I want to analyse the season after it has finished. At the moment he will be my captain until the end of the season.
“I believe he has learned a lot this year and I can only say that his commitment and desire to do well was exceptional. For the rest, I wouldn’t like to go into any individual assessment at the moment.
If Gallas isn’t captain next season I can’t see him staying. I don’t know who it would go to really, maybe we need to bring in someone who can really lead the team. Love him or hate him, Gallas was good in the first half of the season, but the Birmingham game really sums up what happened to our season and his actions there were not those of a leader.
Who else do we have who can captian a side?

Wenger says he’s targeting to quality players, that might be all we need I think, a winger and a defender, maybe a striker too?

I think we need a player in each department,from the keeper,Centre back,midfield,winger to the striking dept (5 players in all).Not just people,i mean experienced individuals who we can refer to as big signings,who will make things happen &make us contend for all d trophies next season & at least win a treble,else it would be the same old story.
gallas has really tried for arsenal this season but i honestly do not believe he has the character to captain Arsenal. a player like fabregas should be given the chance. in terms of stregnthening the team i think wenger should sign David villa upfront, hatem ben arfa or luka modric on the left(rosicky can now rotate positions with fabregas in the center) we need a strong centreback a vincent company, micah richards or veloso would do. if we can get these players i feel we would mount a stronger challenge next season.pls send me a link to my blog
Wenger’s said he’s not interested in signing a striker, he wants Bendtner and Walcott to have a chance he said.
I reckon thats true, but he is after 2 “quality players” so I think a winger and a defender, I doubt there will be any big names though!!
I think Gallas acted very unprofessionally at B’ham and once again, as he showed when he played for Chelsea, he’s really quite selfish and doesn’t really come across as the motivational type.
I think you need a right winger to replace eboue, even though I still don’t get why when Sagna is injured (who is quality by the way) that Toure covers him at full back and Eboue plays on the wing, where he lacks quality going forward. Why doesn’t Wenger keep Toure and Gallas as centre back pairing which is quality, instead of bringing in Senderos who’s a bit inconsistent and put Walcott on the wing?
Great point about the selection Tim! It was strange that Eboue should play on the wing, when he is a better right-back. I think Wenger now sees him as a winger and really sees his starting position as that. He wants him to play there rather than fill in at right back.
It’s strange, but Wenger does has a history of switching player positions, with success!
Wenger probably has been wanting to develop Eboue and make him into a Ray Parlour type player. Maybe if we had won some trophies we would not have noticed the negative aspects of Eboue. I still think next season Arsenal’s depth will be far improved.
On the Captaincy I think Toure would make a better captain than Gallas. If Gallas is a real leader he should stay for at least a season. He is more of a John Terry – wanting more than just football – wanting to be a captain in every thing. Maybe because Gallas worked under Terry so he is spoilt.
